I\u2019m baaaack.<\/h4>

Just in time for apple cider and Halloween decorations.<\/p>

In my defense, I\u2019ve been very busy. I wish I could say it was doing wonderful vacation type things, but alas\u2014I simply looked up, had turned another year older and summer was over.<\/p>

Summer stole me away, at least mentally, but never fear\u2014I have returned.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Let\u2019s catch up.<\/p>

August earned me a couple of new publications I\u2019m quite proud of;<\/p>

My poem Harmless<\/em> was printed in the Tru Dat No. 1 Anthology<\/strong>, which is available now from Barnes & Noble<\/a> or your favorite indie bookseller.<\/span><\/p>

My piece The Screaming Place<\/em> was also accepted over at X-R-A-Y<\/a> Lit mag, which is a huge personal win for me because I\u2019ve been such a fan of the mag and the writers featured there.<\/p>

The story also caught some unexpected interest, and the folks at The Practice of Writing\u2019s Flash Club <\/strong><\/a>reached out to see if they could read and discuss The Screaming Place.<\/em><\/p>

This is extremely flattering, and I heard through the grapevine there was some excellent discussion! There will be a video posted at some point, though I\u2019m unsure I\u2019m brave enough to watch it.<\/p>

I <\/span>believe<\/span> I may also be included in the lovely Plague Circus Anthology One<\/strong><\/a> with my micropoem, which is now available on Amazon.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In other news, I recently attended a fantastic poetry workshop led by the great Cletus Crow<\/strong><\/a> and came out with such great feedback that I think the poetry I\u2019m writing now is some of my best yet.<\/p>

The value of critique is the hill I will die on, and I know there are writers and artists out there who are uncomfortable with it, but I truly think sharing your work with your peers is invaluable and that work created in a vacuum is often stunted.<\/p>

On the agent hunt side of things, I recently had another request on my manuscript for The Last Dawn<\/em>, which is always encouraging, especially since I\u2019m a bit behind on finishing my second novel, The Patron<\/em>, which I\u2019d hoped to be querying by now.<\/p>

Lastly, I have a few new pieces of work coming out this fall, including new poetry and a new fiction piece that can easily be filed under wtf.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To be personal a moment, most of my summer (and current mindset) was occupied with things outside of writing. Life can be a bit funny like that. One moment you think you know exactly where you\u2019re going, and then it can turn on a dime.<\/p>

It can be a good turn or a bad turn, but in this case I\u2019m glad that the universe has decided to give me positive spin. I\u2019m also terribly grateful that I found writing, and myself, before this particular happy detour.<\/p>

So, despite much of my life being in a state of flux, at least I have my writing to cling to. In fact, this is probably an idea we should all get used to. We live in a time of rapid, unpredictable shifts, and possible Butlerian Jihad. <\/span><\/p>

We best hold onto our butts. And hobbies. And little joys. And dogs.<\/span><\/p>
